25 years ago (week of Sept. 12-18, 1971):

A town meeting in Columbia, sponsored by the Council of Better Business Bureaus, drew fewer than 20 residents, all of whom reported difficulties with getting their home-builders to honor their contractual agreements. The Better Business Bureau was hoping to establish an experimental research branch in the new city.

50 years ago (week of Sept. 8-14, 1946):

Miss Margaret Lauper, the county Health Nurse, sustained head and chest injuries when she fell through an open trap door into the basement of a grocery store. She stepped into the open space while reviewing a shopping list. Miss Lauper was treated at a hospital in Baltimore, where she remained for four days.
