WITH THE SUMMER hiatus past, the calendar is filling up quickly with family activities, back-to-school events, meetings, courses, fairs, festivals, and football and soccer practices and games.

If your calendar hasn't reached overload yet, check out the county Department of Recreation and Parks' fall program guide, which lists classes and courses offered locally and countywide.

Need to burn the fat? Try an aerobics class. The department offers a high-low-impact class at Northeast High School from 6: 30 p.m. to 7: 30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, or at Lake Shore Elementary School from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.

Low-impact aerobics classes are offered at Riviera Beach Elementary School from 3: 45 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; at Lake Shore Elementary from 7 p.m. to 8: 15 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays; and at Northeast High School from 6 p.m. to 7: 15 p.m. and 7: 15 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Not into jumping around? Think about the tone-and-firm exercise class offered at Northeast High School from 7: 45 p.m. to 8: 45 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.

The cost for 60-minute classes is $47.50. The 75-minute class is $49.50. Aerobics classes begin next week. For information on the aerobics programs, call 956-1084.

Want an activity for the whole family? Country line dancing lessons and open dancing for dancers of all levels and ages are scheduled for 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays at Jacobsville Elementary.

A beginning couples dancing class will meet from 7: 30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays at George Fox Middle School. Bring a partner.

The cost for either of the eight-week programs is $35.

Youngsters can choose from beginning gymnastics classes, youth karate, ballet and jazz dance classes.

Teens can visit the Chesapeake High School gym from 5: 30 p.m. to 8: 30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays for free activities starting Monday.

The guide to recreation and parks classes is available at country libraries. Information: 222-7313.
