What: Second biennial competition involving the United States and the International Team, a group representing players from countries not eligible for the Ryder Cup (Asia, Africa, Australia and Latin America).

When: Tomorrow-Sunday

Where: Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, Gainesville, Va.

TV: Tomorrow, ESPN, 8 a.m.-noon and 2-6: 30 p.m. Saturday, CBS, 2-6 p.m. Sunday, CBS 1-6 p.m.

Defending champion: The U.S. team won, 20-12, in 1994.

Captains: U.S., Arnold Palmer; International, Peter Thomson

Format: Tomorrow, Five four-ball (better ball) matches and five foursome (alternate shot) matches. Saturday, Five four-ball matches and five foursome matches. Sunday, 12 singles matches. All matches are worth one point and are contested by match play. Four-ball and foursome matches can be halved but singles matches carry over to sudden death. If the overall competition is tied there will be a sudden-death playoff between two players designated in advance. Thirty-two points are at stake with 16 1/2 needed to win.

Tickets: A limited number of $125 regular-season badges and $250 clubhouse season badges will be sold at the gate. No single-day tickets will be sold.
