Man, woman arrested on drug charges

County police arrested a Baltimore man and a Glen Burnie woman on drug charges Tuesday after the man allegedly agreed to sell drugs to an undercover officer, then tried to rob him at knifepoint in a Pasadena apartment complex.

Stanley Lee Richardson, 29, of the 2500 block of Virginia Ave. and Delphina Maria Poynter, 34, of the 6400 block of Roots Drive were charged with attempted armed robbery and conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine. Richardson also was charged with assault and illegal possession of a deadly weapon, and Poynter with possession of crack cocaine and maintaining a common nuisance.

Officer Roger E. Crawford Jr., an undercover officer, was driving in the 7800 block of Shirley Murphy Court about 10 p.m. as part of an investigation of drug trafficking in the area when a woman flagged him down and told him she would show him where he could buy crack cocaine if she could have some of the drugs.

Crawford followed the woman to the bottom floor of a nearby apartment building, police said. A man came out of an apartment, offered to sell Crawford $20 worth of cocaine and ordered the woman to the top floor to act as a lookout. He then pulled a large knife and demanded Crawford's wallet, police said.

Crawford pulled his gun and arrested the man and woman, police said. Police found a small amount of crack cocaine in the apartment.
