County police arrested a Glen Burnie man Monday on charges he tried twice to run over a man who was walking down Hammonds Ferry Road.

Patrick John Hines, 21, of the 1300 block of Broadview Blvd. was charged with assault and battery.

Roy G. Becker, 33, of the 400 block of Oak Grove Road in Linthicum was treated at North Arundel Hospital for cuts to his right forearm and released.

Becker told police he was on the sidewalk in the 500 block of Hammonds Ferry Road just before 3 a.m. when he heard a car coming toward him. He turned and saw a 1987 Honda Prelude coming at him, jumped away and ducked behind a trash can, police said.

Becker said he heard the car coming toward him again. It passed so closely that Becker had to push himself away, smashing his arm through a rear window and cutting himself.

Police tracked the car to a Glen Burnie address, where the owner told them her boyfriend had been driving it, police said. She showed police the car, which had a broken rear window and blood on the glass. Police then found Hines.
