Looking for a party to go to? The Maryland Art Place is holding its benefit exhibition and auction in MAP's galleries at 218 W. Saratoga St. The theme is "Making Waves in the FTC Mid-Atlantic." The exhibition will feature the work of more than 75 of the region's artists. The live auction begins at 6: 30 p.m. Sept. 21. It will feature weekend trips to Ocean City and other destinations; exotic artifacts; and artwork of prominent local artists.

Dinner seating is limited, with ticket prices at $150 per person. The after-dinner party, which includes an open bar, a silent art auction, cigars, cordials and entertainment in the Drawing Room, begins at 9: 30 p.m. Tickets are $40 per person. Proceeds from the benefit go to support MAP's exhibitions, performances and educational activities throughout the year.

The exhibitions can be viewed at MAP's galleries through Sept. 28. Bidding for the silent auction began yesterday and will end at 11 o'clock the night of the party. For more information or to charge tickets by phone, call (410) 962-8565.
