ROLAND TERRACE Democratic Club, 619 Matthews Ave., will sponsor a Platter Party from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 15 at the hall. Music will be provided by the Coachmen.

Included in the admission price -- $6 in advance and $8 at the door -- is a platter of food, beer, soda and setups. Everyone is invited to attend.

The club also will hold a crab feast, a major fund-raiser, from 8 p.m. to midnight Sept. 27 at the hall.

Hot steamed crabs, crab soup, a greens table and more will be on the menu. Tickets are $25.

Tickets for both events may be obtained by calling Virginia Uzialko at 789-2013 or the club at 636-1504 after 7 p.m.

Rally Day at church

Everyone is invited to celebrate Sunday school Rally Day at St. John Lutheran Church, 226 Washburn Ave., at 9: 45 a.m. Sept. 15. Parents and guardians are invited to register new pupils at the Sunday school office at 9: 30 a.m. Classes are offered for children age 3 through sixth grade. There also are confirmation classes for grades seven through nine and a Bible study group for adults. For more information, call 355-7295.

In addition to Sunday school, the church will offer two services, at 8: 30 a.m. and 11 a.m., a return to the regular Sunday schedule. The coffee and fellowship hour, from 9: 45 a.m. to 10: 45 a.m., also will resume Sept. 15.

Back-to-school night

Brooklyn Park Elementary School news: Back-to-school night is scheduled at 7 p.m. tomorrow in the cafeteria. Parents and guardians are invited to meet with their children's teachers and learn what is expected this year.

Volunteers sought

Lindale/Brooklyn Park Middle School news: Volunteers are always welcome at the school. Parents, grandparents and community members can assist in a variety of ways, including clerical help, classroom assistance, office helper, newsletter, school store and media aide.

PTSA board to meet

North County High School news: The PTSA Executive Board will meet at 6: 30 p.m. Monday in the office conference room. Anyone interested in becoming a member at large is invited to attend this meeting.

The Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) consists of parents, students and members of the community who are interested in becoming involved in school-related issues at the local and county levels.

The CAC is an advisory board to the school principal on local issues and to the superintendent and school board on countywide issues. There will be an organizational meeting of the school's CAC at 7 p.m. Sept. 16 in the office conference room.

More parent involvement is needed, along with a student representative. Any parent or community member interested in becoming involved should attend this meeting. For more information, call 222-6970.

Groups plan joint meeting

The Brooklyn Park Health Association will have a joint meeting with the Brooklyn Heights Improvement Association at 6 p.m. Monday at the Brooklyn Park library on 11th Ave. Anyone interested in belonging to either of these organizations is welcome.

Yard sale Saturday

Don't forget the indoor-outdoor yard sale from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Knights of Columbus, Monsignor Ripple Council hall, Pontiac and Fifth avenues. Call 987-0628 for more information.

Belle Grove meeting

Belle Grove community members are invited to attend the monthly meeting of the Belle Grove Improvement Association. The first meeting of the 1996-1997 season is scheduled at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Belle Grove Elementary School, 4502 Belle Grove Road.
