This perennial red-wine bargain from southern Italy is beginning to creep upward in price, but it still offers good value. In the medium- to full-bodied class, it offers lush, earthy, black-currant fruit seasoned with flavors of herbs and smoked meat. It could sell for as low as $8 in some shops.
