Charles "Blackie" O'Neal,92, writer and patriarch of a show business family, died Aug. 29 in Los Angeles. O'Neal was the father of actor Ryan O'Neal and screenwriter Kevin O'Neal and grandfather of actress Tatum O'Neal. He won a Christopher Award in 1949 for his first novel, "The Three Wishes of Jamie McRuin." It was adapted for the stage in 1951.
