Man arrested in drug sting gets 10-year prison term

A Westminster man who was arrested in an undercover drug sting was sentenced to 14 years in state prison in Carroll County Circuit Court yesterday.

Tyrone E. Brown, 36, of the first block of Sullivan Ave. pleaded guilty to distribution of cocaine and marijuana. Judge Raymond E. Beck Sr. suspended all but 10 years and placed Brown on five years of probation after his release.

According to court records, Brown was arrested after a two-month investigation by Westminster police last summer. He was charged for selling cocaine and marijuana to an undercover officer on three occasions.

Fire

Westminster: Firefighters from Reese assisted Westminster at 4: 21 p.m. Tuesday, responding to smoke in a house in the first block of New Windsor Road. Units were out 36 minutes.

Westminster: Firefighters from Reese, Pleasant Valley and Manchester assisted Westminster at 5: 18 p.m. Tuesday, responding to an apartment fire in the first block of Chase St. Units were out 14 minutes.

Westminster: Firefighters from Reese, Pleasant Valley and Manchester assisted Westminster at 9: 22 p.m. Tuesday, responding to a fire alarm in the 400 block of N. Center St. Units were out three minutes.

Pleasant Valley: Firefighters responded at 8: 32 p.m. Sunday to investigate a report of a fire in the 4700 block of Babylon Road. Units were out 38 minutes.

Westminster: Firefighters responded at 8: 04 p.m. Sunday to an auto fire in the 200 block of W. Main St. Units were out 29 minutes.

Police

Westminster: A Denton Drive resident told police that the rear license tag was stolen from his vehicle Monday while it was parked on Pennsylvania Avenue. The loss was estimated at $70.

Westminster: A Sykesville resident told police that her vehicle was damaged Tuesday while it was parked at the Longwell lot. Damage was estimated at $1,000.

Westminster: A resident of Mulligan Lane told police that a bicycle was stolen from an unlocked shed behind his home Sunday. The loss was estimated at $120.
