Angels update Angels statistics

The California Angels aren't known for their pitching, but they've been one of only a few teams to slow down the Orioles' bats this season. The three Angels starters in this series, Shawn Boskie, Pep Harris and Dennis Springer, all threw well at Camden Yards a few weeks ago when the Angels took two of three games from the Orioles. Harris gave the Angels five strong innings in his second career appearance during that series, Springer threw a five- hit complete-game shutout and Boskie pitched 6 1/3 scoreless innings. But overall this season, Angels starters are 40-57 with a 5.78 ERA. They've matched a major-league record by using 27 pitchers this year. The Angels also have established a club record by using the disabled list 21 times. The Angels aren't hitting well either. Slugger Tim Salmon is 3-for-18 with one run scored on their current homestand, J. T. Snow is 3-for-20 in that span, Chili Davis is in a 1-for-9 funk and Garret Anderson is 6-for-24. An ex-Oriole is picking up the slack. Rex Hudler is on a 40-for-124 tear (.323) and has established career highs with 14homers and 34 RBIs. Weak-hitting catcher Jorge Fabergas is hot too, hitting .389 (21-for-54) in his past 16 games.
