Officers to explain police work

WANT TO become informed about law enforcement activities in the area? The Northern District Police Community Relations Council will meet at 7: 30 p.m. Wednesday at the Northern District Police Station on Hammonds Lane.

Jeff Cover, supervisor of evidence collection, will be the speaker. Capt. Emerson Davis will speak about police activity in the area.

Step aerobics

The county Recreation and Parks Department will offer step aerobics classes again at Belle Grove Elementary School, 4502 Belle Grove Road. Step aerobics is a cardiovascular training method to promote fitness.

The classes are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays beginning Sept. 16 and continuing for 8 weeks.

The fee is $47.50. Call 222-7313 for reservations.

Dance for children

The recreation department also is offering dance classes for children ages 6 to 15 at Brooklyn Park/Lindale Middle School, 415 Andover Road. Ballet, pointe, jazz and tap of various levels will be offered. Classes last for eight weeks and cost $35. For more details, call 222-7313.

Back to school

Belle Grove Elementary School welcomes Veronica Walker, who will teach grades four and five, to its staff. School officials have scheduled back-to-school night for 7 p.m. Tuesday. All faculty and staff members will be introduced, and parents or guardians can meet their children's teachers.

Parents Club

North County High School invites new and returning parents to become members of the Parents Club. The first meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday in the conference room.
