Clerk at Severna Park Giant is attacked

A youth tried to choke a clerk at the Giant Food store in the 500 block of Ritchie Highway in Severna Park on Wednesday, county police said yesterday.

The clerk, John David-Gower Waszak, 20, was standing in front of the store at 3 p.m. when a youth about 17 years old tried to choke him, then fled on foot, police said. Waszak suffered a cut on his neck, police said.

Severna Park: More than $1,000 worth of audio and electronics equipment and about $940 in cash and checks were stolen from the Sun Deck, a tanning salon in the 300 block of Ritchie Highway, on Monday night. John Mastrodonato of Baldwin discovered the loss when he opened the salon Tuesday.
