Concrete barriers removed at Lake Shore intersection

August 30, 1996

Concrete barriers that formed a traffic circle at South Carolina Avenue and South Road in Lake Shore were torn up overnight Tuesday and the pieces piled in the road, county police said yesterday.

The preformed curb sections, which weigh about 50 pounds each and were nailed to the road, are designed to slow traffic through intersections, according to a Department of Public Works spokesman.

Several signs that warned motorists of the circle were removed and left in residents' yards.

A public works crew reassembled the circle, one of four at intersections along South Carolina Avenue.
