Spirit, Cooper meet in season opener

The Spirit will open its fifth National Professional Soccer League season with a confrontation with its former coach, Kenny Cooper.

Cooper, now coach of the Tampa Bay Terror, will bring his team to the Baltimore Arena on Oct. 19 on the first of the Spirit's 20 home dates. Nineteen are on weekends -- seven on Friday, 10 on Saturday, two on Sunday -- and one on Tuesday.

The NPSL All-Star game will be played Feb. 9 at 3 p.m. at the Baltimore Arena.
