The perfect play for theatergoers may be Anne Meara's

"After-Play," about four show-biz friends who have dinner together after a night at the theater and end up tearing the play -- and each other -- apart.

"After-Play," which had a successful off-Broadway run in New York, has its area premiere at Olney Theatre Center on Tuesdayand runs through Oct. 6. Meara, who was part of the husband-and-wife comedy team of Stiller and Meara, both wrote and appeared in the New York production. At Olney, the stars are Barbara Andes, Lauren Klein, John LaGioia and Robert Levine. John Going will direct.

Show times at the theater, 2001 Olney-Sandy Spring Road in Olney, are Tuesday-Saturday at 8 p.m.; Sunday at 2: 30 p.m. and 7: 30 p.m.; with selected Thursday and Saturday matinees. On Sept. 18, there will be a discussion with the director and cast after the show. A sign-interpreted performance is Sept. 17; the audio-described show is Sept. 19. Tickets are $23-$28, with discounts for seniors and students. Call (301) 924-3400.
