A decomposed body was discovered yesterday morning near the intersection of Maryland Route 94 and Interstate 70 in Woodbine, state police said.

State Highway Administration workers found the body about 50 feet from the ramp leading from southbound Route 94 to westbound I-70 about 9 a.m. yesterday, said Capt. Greg Shipley of the Maryland State Police. The body was found under trees at the bottom of the steep embankment.

Police could not identify the sex, age or race of the body, nor could they determine a cause of death, Shipley said. The body was taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Baltimore for an autopsy scheduled for today.

Investigators from the Bureau of Drug and Criminal Enforcement are contacting other police departments for missing persons reports in an effort to identify the body, Shipley said.
