Crash kills man, injures 4 others in Westminster

WESTMINSTER -- A man was killed and four other people injured early yesterday when two vehicles collided on Liberty Road in Westminster, state police said.

Greg Salzman, 27, of Windy Hills Drive in Taneytown was pronounced dead at the scene of the 1: 30 a.m. accident, police said.

A passenger, Crystal Salzman, also 27 and of Windy Hills Drive, was injured and treated at Carroll County General Hospital, police said. Her relationship to the driver was not immediately available.

Occupants of the other vehicle -- Westminster residents John Beale, 28, of Glenbrook Drive; David Thompson, 29, of the 400 block of Brown Private Road; and Robert Chronister, 23, of the 1900 block of Old Taneytown Road -- were in serious condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, police said.

According to police, a 1990 Dodge Caravan driven by Greg Salzman crossed the dividing line on northbound Liberty Road near Hughes Shop Road and struck a southbound 1994 Ford Explorer.
