Stolen bottle of liquor sets off string of arrests

August 23, 1996

A theft report from the owner of a Glen Burnie liquor store led police to a Glen Burnie home, where they arrested four men and two women on a variety of charges.

April Ann Lay, 39, of the 100 block of Glen Lea Drive in Glen Burnie was charged with a warrant for violation of probation. Theodore Roosevelt Randall, 33, of the 1000 block of Sunnybrook Drive in Glen Burnie was charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Robert Russell Rye, 27, of the 800 block of Buena Vista Road in Arnold was charged with a warrant for drug possession.

Robyn L. Burck, 34, of the Glenlea Drive address, was charged with theft and resisting arrest. Glenn Joseph Trovato, 41, of the 300 block of Margate Drive in Glen Burnie was charged with disorderly conduct and assault on a police officer. John Robert Granger, 25, of the 1700 block of Marley Ave. in Glen Burnie was charged with hindering an arrest and assault on a police officer.

John Chun, owner of J. C. Liquor in the 6700 block of Ritchie Highway, called police shortly before 6 p.m. to report a woman who tried to steal a bottle of liquor from his store.

Chun said the woman walked into the store, picked up a $15 bottle of ouzo, a Greek cordial, walked out and tried to get into a waiting blue Ford Mustang.

Chun caught the woman, retrieved the liquor and took down the car's license tag number. The car was listed to Lay, so police went to her home to investigate the theft, leading to the other charges.
