What began as a seemingly simple lane change resulted in a three-car accident on Route 32 at Shaker Drive in Columbia's Kings Contrivance village Wednesday evening, police said.

Libby Queen, 41, of the 10000 block of Prince Place in Upper Marlboro was changing lanes in a 1989 BMW while eastbound on Route 32 about 6 p.m., said Sgt. Steven Keller of the Howard County Police Department.

She crossed in the path of a 1995 Toyota driven by Lizy John, 22, of the 9000 block of Evening Primrose in Laurel, and the Toyota veered to the left shoulder, went out of control and collided with Queen's BMW.

The Toyota crossed the roadway again and collided with a 1995 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Willie Ross, 51, of the 1000 block of Sunbeam Court in Odenton.

Queen and John were treated for minor injuries at Howard County General Hospital on Wednesday, Keller said.

Ross was treated for minor injuries at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore and released.

Police are investigating the accident, Keller said.
