SEVERNA PARK -- The offices of three Republican organizations were ransacked and burglarized over the weekend, Anne Arundel County police reported.

Police called to the Elephant Club in the 800 block of Ritchie Highway about 9 a.m. Monday found that someone apparently climbed a tree on the southeast corner of the building, entered HTC the group's office through an unlocked window and stole a fax machine.

Police said that the door to U.S. Rep. Wayne T. Gilchrest's campaign office, located down the hall, was forced open and that desks were ransacked and a CD player was taken.

The local campaign office for GOP presidential candidate Bob Dole on the second floor also was broken into, but nothing was taken, police said.
