Two county men were arrested Saturday after a group of men pulled a driver from his car in Pasadena, beat him and tried to steal his car, county police said.

Simpson said that after he dropped off some friends at a house on Liberty Circle and was leaving the neighborhood, five men approached his 1982 Honda Civic and threw a brick and a bottle through the rear window of the car, police said. The men pulled Simpson out and began to kick and punch him, he told police.

They took Simpson's keys and two lighters and, when they were unable to drive away, and kicked the car and shattered the windshield and the headlights, police said.

Police arrested two men they found in the area. Simpson identified them as among his attackers. The stolen lighters were recovered.

Simpson was not injured, police said.
