Baltimore man charged with shoplifting clothes

August 18, 1996

A Baltimore man was arrested Wednesday and charged with stealing $378 worth of clothing from the Glen Burnie Target store.

James Benjamin Young Jr., 30, of the 1100 block of Cleveland St. was charged with felony theft, police said.

A security guard called police to the store, in the 7900 block of Nolpark Court, shortly before 9 p.m. after he caught a man shoplifting.

Police said the guard told them that he saw two women take plastic storage containers out of a cardboard box, fill the box with clothing and reseal it. The women gave the box to a man who went through the checkout line, paid $14.69 for the merchandise and walked out. The guard detained the man outside the store. The women sped off in a car, police said.
