Off the field, Ravens wing it in style

MODEL ATHLETES

Ravens -- graceful in motion, menacing in stillness. Their basic black coloration with subtle glints of purple and gold could be the uniform of sophisticates. Black is elegant, urbane and always in good taste.

Just for fun, we asked some Ravens team members to play at fashion in the preseason. The team has had air time and hundreds of yards of press columns, but it will be a while before we know the Ravens as individuals, with that instant recognition. They're just beginning to settle in as part of the Baltimore community.

We wanted to know about their personal style, when they're out of their numbered jerseys, so four Ravens brought themselves and some of their gear to a photo shoot.

Men who play to packed stadiums are not daunted by dabs of makeup or pulling and tugging by stylists and dressers. They posed and vogued. They threw footballs and attitude. They exchanged shirts and jokes.

The confidence gained on the playing field makes good models. It also makes good sports.
