Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Baltimore city and county.

Southwestern District

Officer assaulted/arrest: Officer Kevin Gavin was struck in the head Tuesday by a man he was arresting in the 4700 block of Amberley Ave. The man got away but was caught after a brief chase and continued to fight Officer Gavin, who was not injured, and other officers. Jimmie Stuckey, 45, of the 4300 block of Cedar Garden Road was charged with assault.

Stolen car: A four-door 1992 Toyota with tags 836 APD was stolen Tuesday in the 2500 block of W. Pratt St.

Arson: Two boys, both younger than 12 years old, are suspected of setting a fire in a vacant house in the 2100 block of Wilkens Ave. yesterday, causing extensive damage to the second floor. The fire also damaged two adjoining residences. A firefighter sustained minor injuries. Charges against the youths were pending an investigation by police, fire officials and juvenile authorities.

Northern District

Robbery: An 89-year-old man was in the 3300 block of Old York Road Tuesday when he was assaulted by two men who robbed him of cash and property, all valued at more than $300.

Burglary/arson: A fire was set in the basement of a house in the 600 block of E. 31st St. Tuesday. The fire burned itself out, and no property was reported missing.

Burglary: A fax machine, coins, jewelry and a camera, all valued at more than $2,000, were stolen Tuesday from a house in the 3800 block of Keswick Road.

Northeastern District

Robbery: An 8-year-old boy was in the 2300 block of Perring Manor Road Tuesday when he was assaulted by several other youths who robbed him of a softball bat valued at $7.

Northwestern District

Theft from vehicle: A battery used to operate a drill was stolen Tuesday from a locked box in a 1995 truck parked in the 2800 block of Druid Park Drive. The battery was valued at more than $100.

Burglary: A microwave oven, a video-cassette recorder and jewelry, all valued at $500, were stolen Tuesday from a house in the 2800 block of Gatehouse Drive.

White Marsh Precinct

Bank robbery: A man robbed the First National Bank in the 5200 block of Kenwood Ave. Tuesday after giving a teller a note saying he would kill the teller if she didn't give him all the large bills in her cash drawer. After the money was placed in a pouch, the robber fled to some woods behind the bank.

North Point Precinct

Theft: Four trailers -- two with Michigan tags 38057W and 89244V, one with New Jersey tag T692EJ and one with Wisconsin tag 281879 -- were stolen Tuesday from Transport International Pool in the 8200 block of Bletzer Road.

Towson Precinct

Burglary: A mountain bike valued at more than $500 was stolen Tuesday from a garage in the 1100 block of Rolandvue Ave. In the 1000 block of Rolandvue Ave., a mountain bike valued at more than $400 was stolen in June, but the theft was not reported until Tuesday.

Burglary: More than $1,000 was stolen Tuesday from a bedroom in a house in the 300 block of Old Trail Road.

Cockeysville Precinct

Burglary: A .22-caliber revolver valued at more than $200 was stolen Tuesday from a house in the 16400 block of Markoe Road in Monkton.
