White Sox: Chicago announced that it had asked the commissioner's office to take its top draft pick, left-handed pitcher Bobby Seay, off their negotiating list. It was unable to reach contract agreement with the high school star from Sarasota, Fla., its spring training home.

Yankees: Dwight Gooden has allowed only seven earned runs in his last 60 2/3 innings, but has four straight no-decisions.
