A Davidsonville man was arrested Saturday and charged with attempted murder after police said he robbed his girlfriend and ran her over with his pickup truck.

Eric Scott McDonald, 27, of the 700 block of Petersburg Road also was charged with assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to rob, robbery, assault, battery, theft, driving while intoxicated, driving under the influence, reckless driving, negligent driving, failure to stop a vehicle at the scene of an accident, and failure to remain at the scene of an accident. He is being held without bond at the county detention center, police said.

Laura Lee Lake, 32, of the first block of Summerhill Park in Crownsville was treated at Anne Arundel Medical Center and released.

Police said Lake and her boyfriend got into an argument shortly after 4 a.m. as they were driving home. When the argument became more heated, they pulled into the parking lot of the Food Lion in the 3200 block of Solomon's Island Road, got out of the Toyota truck, and continued the argument.

McDonald is accused of punching Lake in the head and face and taking $56 from her. He then jumped into the truck and sped toward her, striking her and knocking her to the ground, police said.

While Lake was on the ground, the driver ran her over and then drove away, police said.

McDonald was arrested in front of his home.
