Inspectors shut five, cite 19 other food establishments

County health inspectors visited 137 restaurant and food-handling establishments July 16-31 to evaluate sanitary and physical conditions. Five facilities were temporarily closed because of emergency circumstances:

Subway, 100 block of Mayo Road, Edgewater. Closed July 17, unsatisfactory water supply. Reopened same day.

Biggle's Eatery, 2600 block of Annapolis Road, Severn. Closed July 19, minor fire. Reopened same day.

Clarke's Bayside Inn, 2000 block of Knollview Drive, Pasadena. Closed July 19, unsatisfactory water supply. Reopened same day.

Pirates Cove, 4800 block of Riverside Drive, Galesville. Closed July 19, unsatisfactory water supply. Reopened same day.

Kelly's Seafood, 7800 block of Telegraph Road, Severn. Closed July 24, no hot water. Reopened for limited service July 29.

County inspectors cited 17 other establishments for failure to maintain food at the proper temperature:

Sbarro's, 7900 block of Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie.

Bob Davidson and Son, 800 block of Ritchie Highway, Severna Park.

Roy Rogers, 7300 block of Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd., Glen Burnie.

Charter at the Meadows, 700 block of Route 3 South, Gambrills. Reinspection required.

Deno's Pizza, 1600 block of Annapolis Road, Odenton.

Mom's Bakery, 7400 block of Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd., Glen Burnie.

Popeye's, 7000 block of Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie. Reinspection required.

Subway, 7400 block of Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie.

Easton Petroleum, 6600 block of Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie.

Kentucky Fried Chicken, 1000 block of Route 3 North, Gambrills.

7-Eleven, 2000 block of Davidsonville Road, Crofton.

Griffins West Street Grill, 2000 block of West St., Annapolis.

John's Bakery, 100 block of Main St., Brooklyn Park.

Anne Arundel Medical Center, Cathedral and Franklin streets, Annapolis. Reinspection required.

Hardee's, 3100 block of Solomon's Island Road, Edgewater.

Metro Food Market, 1600 block of Crofton Square, Crofton.

Horn and Horn Buffet, 7300 block of Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie.

County inspectors cited two other establishments:

Venus restaurant, 7300 block of Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd., Glen Burnie. Food not properly cooled; food not maintained at proper temperature. Reinspection required.

The Canopy, 8500 block of Fort Smallwood Road, Pasadena. Food not properly cooled.
