Cortina Highlands

Dale Thompson Builders has opened a model of the Buckingham, one of five traditional homes the Columbia company is building on 12 one-acre lots at Cortina Highlands in Howard County.

Standard features are 9-foot ceilings on the first floor, 42-inch-high Stuart kitchen cabinets, chair rails and crown moldings in the dining room, brass fixtures in the master bath and powder room, cultured marble bathroom sinks, six-panel Colonial doors and recessed lighting in the kitchen and foyer.

The Buckingham starts at $425,000 for 4,000 square feet of living space. A two-story foyer has twin coat closets. The entry is flanked by the living room on the left and the dining room on the right, both 13 by 16 feet. Across the rear there is a 10-by-13-foot study, 16-by-18-foot two-level great room with wood-burning fireplace, 12-by-13-foot breakfast area and 15-by-13-foot kitchen with an island. A powder room, walk-in pantry, laundry room and two-car garage are on this level.

A curved oak staircase leads to the second floor, where the master suite has an 11-by-13-foot sitting area, 16-by-13-foot bedroom, walk-in closets, and bath with dual vanities, whirlpool tub, glass-enclosed shower and privacy toilet.

The model is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Take I-95 south to Route 32 west, left on Route 108 to a left on Brighton Dam Road, left on Mink Hollow Road to a right on Villa D'est Drive, right on Green Hill Court to the model on the right.
