August 08, 1996

Police arrested a father and son Tuesday on charges they robbed an Annapolis gas station in broad daylight of an undisclosed amount of money.

Reginald Cortez Boyd Jr., 20, of the 6400 block of Lee Place in Capital Heights, and Reginald Cortez Boyd Sr., 41, of the 100 block of 49th St. S.E., Washington, were charged with armed robbery and use of a handgun in the commission of a felony.

Witnesses told police two men walked into the gas station convenience store in the 2000 block of West St. about 1: 30 p.m., picked up several items and took them to the register.

A clerk rang up the items and when the cash drawer opened, one of the men pulled out a gun and announced a robbery, according to police.

The clerk gave the men money, which they put into a leather bag. They ran from the store and got into a Nissan Pathfinder parked on Holly Road, police said.

Officer Brian Rimple saw a truck fitting the description given by witnesses westbound on Route 50 and stopped it near the South River. Police recovered a leather bag, handgun and money when they searched the truck.
