Photos that connect

August 08, 1996

You don't know if it's art, but you know what you like. Why is it that some pictures speak to some people and not to others? You can hear exactly why some personalities are drawn to certain photographs in "Talking Pictures: People Speak About the Photographs That Speak to Them," now showing at the Delaware Art Museum.

The 54 images in the show range from ads to news photos to family snapshots to famous pictures, and were selected as favorites by writers, celebrities, scientists, prisoners and others. You can hear the reason for their choices through a digital handset as you walk through the exhibit.

The exhibit appears at the museum, 2301 Kentmere Parkway in Wilmington, Del., through Sept. 15. Hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults; $3 for seniors; $2.50 for students; free for members and children 6 and younger. Call (302) 571-9590.
