Concentra Medical buys Dundalk center

Concentra Medical Centers announced yesterday that it is buying the Eastern Industrial Medical Center in Holabird Industrial Park in Dundalk.

That will bring the number of Concentra occupational medicine facilities in the area to eight. Concentra moved into a leading position in the market by acquiring two other firms earlier this year.

In addition to its centers in Arbutus, downtown Baltimore, Cheverly, Columbia, Eastpoint, Elkridge and Rosedale, Concentra plans to move into a new 14,000-square-foot regional headquarters in Jessup in October.

"Eastern Industrial Medical Center was the oldest [nonhospital-] owned center in the state, and we have the resources to renovate it and update its services so it can offer what the market demands," said Tom Ward, regional vice president. "We are continually investigating the market, and also have plans to move our Rosedale site to a larger location this November."

Concentra is owned by Dallas-based OccuSystems Inc., a publicly traded company that operates 84 occupational health centers in 22 markets in 13 states.
