An article in the Aug. 7 Howard County edition of The Su about an arrest put the suspect's address in the wrong Columbia village. Hildebrand Court is in the Village of Harper's Choice.

The Sun regrets the error.

A 19-year-old Columbia woman who told police she was robbed while working at a Dorsey's Search gas station was caught by the store's security camera taking the money herself, Howard County police said yesterday.

The woman had told police that a man robbed the Dorsey Hall Mobil Station in the 4700 block of Dorsey Hall Drive while she was working as a cashier about 11 p.m. Monday, said Sgt. Steven Keller, Howard County police spokesman.

She told police that the man might have entered the store through an unlocked door leading from the gas station's restroom. The man fled after taking the money, she told police.

But when station owner James Coons reviewed the closed-circuit videotape of the incident, it showed the woman taking $353 from the register and putting it in a black plastic bag, Keller said. She then set off the alarm and reported the "crime" to police, he said.

Apparently, she did not know the store had video cameras, Keller said.

Quachana Takeela Stripling of the 5400 block of Hildebrand Court in Wilde Lake village was arrested Monday and charged with theft, making a false statement to police, filing a false report of a crime and intentionally activating a false robbery alarm.

She was being held yesterday on $1,000 bail at the Howard County Detention Center.
