Woman knocked down and robbed of her purse

An Elkridge woman was knocked to the ground and robbed of her purse Saturday by a man who attacked her in the parking lot of a Laurel motel, county police said.

Lily Chen, 45, was not injured in the attack.

She told police she drove to the Holiday Inn in the 3400 block of Laurel Fort Meade Road and parked about 9 p.m.

As she walked to the hotel, a man approached her from behind, pushed her and grabbed her purse, police said. Chen struggled with the man, who dragged her across the ground before he ripped the purse from her grasp, police said.

Police did not have a detailed description of the man.

Glen Burnie man beaten, robbed of wallet, $43

A Glen Burnie man was was beaten and robbed of his wallet and $43 Sunday when three men attacked him near Fort Meade, county police said.

Howell Thomas, 27, of the 7800 block of Tall Pines Court received bruises on his head, eye, arms and legs. He was treated at North Arundel Hospital and released.

Officer Charles A. Knight saw a man who appeared to be bleeding running across Arwell Court shortly after 1 a.m.

The man told police he was jumped from behind by three men who beat him with a 3- or-4-foot-long stick, police said.
