Service for Paula A. Carven, son, Joseph von Hedrich III

A Mass of Christian burial for Paula Ann Carven and her son, Joseph A. "Jay" von Hedrich III, will be offered at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church in Hickory, Harford County.

The Bel Air residents were killed in last month's crash of TWA Flight 800 off Long Island, N.Y. Ms. Carven, 42, a flight attendant for TWA, and her 9-year-old son were flying to Europe for a brief vacation.

They are survived by Ms. Carven's mother, Ann Carven of Bel Air, and Ms. Carven's four brothers, Frank Carven of Forest Hill, Thomas Carven of Bishopville, Jay Carven of Lancaster, Pa., and Sean Carven of Bel Air. Jay also is survived by his father, Joseph A. von Hedrich Jr. of Charlotte, N.C.
