Indians update

The Indians are 32-17 against American League East teams. The Orioles lost three of four to the Indians at Camden Yards last weekend. The Indians are a much different team now. Second baseman Carlos Baerga was dealt to the New York Mets for Jeff Kent and Jose Vizcaino. The only pitcher the Orioles beat that series, Orel Hershiser, will face them again tonight. The Orioles scored 10 earned runs off Hershiser, the most he has ever yielded in the majors. Pitcher Jack McDowell was placed on the disabled list last weekend with a strained muscle in his forearm, and he will not pitch in this series, either. Indians ace Charles Nagy leads the AL in winning percentage with a 12-3 record, but he has struggled since starting the All-Star Game. He is 1-1 with a 4.26 ERA in his past three starts. Brian Giles and Albert Belle were rough on the Orioles in their last series. In his first six starts since his recall, Giles is hitting .522 (12-for-23) with a triple, two homers and eight RBIs. Belle is second in the league with 36 homers. He leads the majors with 103 RBIs.
