Keys play host to Salem in tripleheader today

August 01, 1996|By KENT BAKER

The Frederick Keys will be involved in their first Carolina League tripleheader today after last night's scheduled doubleheader with Salem was postponed because of an unplayable field.

Grove Stadium was inundated with rain for two days, leaving the infield soggy, the pitching mound slippery and the outfield full of water.

Today's games will begin at 3: 30 p.m. with the completion of a game suspended Tuesday with Frederick leading, 1-0, in the bottom of the second inning.

Two seven-inning games will follow, weather permitting. Frederick, which began play in 1989, had never before been rained out on two consecutive dates at home.
