For a weekend of family fun that includes a carnival and firefighter skill competitions, attend the Carlisle Firefighters' Jamboree and Fair Friday through Sunday at the fairgrounds in Carlisle, Pa.

The three-day event also features antique fire apparatus competitions, antique and modern fire apparatus displays, fire and personal safety seminars and live entertainment. Kids will take fire truck rides and learn about fire safety.

Gates open at 8 a.m. each day. Admission is $4 for adults and free for children under 12. Call (717) 243-7855. Crustaceans take center stage Saturday and Sunday at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum's 14th annual CrabFest in St. Michaels. Festival-goers will enjoy plenty of food, entertainment and demonstrations. Pull up a crab pot, experience the rigor of working a trotline or watch crabs shed their old shells.

Children can get their faces painted, embark on a treasure hunt and become watermen with a simulated trotline aboard a miniature work boat. And if you've never picked crabs before, don't fear; seasoned veterans will give crab-picking demonstrations. Oyster boat rides, lectures and live music also are part of the festivities, and the museum is open for tours.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Regular museum admission -- $7.50 for adults, $6.50 for seniors, $3 ages 6-17 -- is your ticket to the CrabFest. A family ticket for two adults and up to three children is $18. Call (410) 745-2916.
