Worker killed in accident at building site

A Sykesville construction worker was killed in Baltimore over the weekend when a steel support truss fell on him at a warehouse he was renovating in the 1600 block of S. Highland Ave. near O'Donnell Heights, city police said.

Thomas Beaudett, 43, of Oakline Road was dead at the scene of head injuries.

Police said the man was working alone outside the building about 4 p.m. Saturday when a steel A-frame truss on the second floor fell after the roof of the warehouse had been removed.

When the man didn't arrive home, his wife notified his foreman, who went to the job site about 11: 30 p.m. Saturday and found Beaudett. City firefighters used inflatable bags to lift the steel frame and remove his body.
