July 30, 1996

Thieves broke into four boats at the Bayberry community marina overnight Sunday and stole navigational gear and other boating equipment, county police said.

The burglars pried open cabin doors and slashed canvas boat tops to break in and make off with two Garmin Global Positioning Systems, three VHF radios, water skis, sunglasses, stereo equipment, a cellular phone, a depth finder and a set of wrenches.

The loss, including damage to the boats, was more than $5,600, police said.

Millersville man is robbed twice in as many days

A Millersville man was robbed twice in two days last weekend, as thieves broke into his tool shed Friday to take thousands of dollars worth of tools and gardening equipment, then apparently came back Saturday for more, county police said.

Lloyd L. Wilson, 62, of the 500 block of Welland Court, told police the burglars pulled the hinges off his shed overnight Friday and took several thousand dollars worth of tools, a lawn mower, weed cutter and vacuum cleaner with attachments, police said.

The burglars returned Saturday night and stole another lawn mower, said police, who estimated the loss at $12,486.
