Baltimore man is charged in robbery Ellicott City woman, 91, was purse-snatch victim

A 21-year-old Baltimore man was arrested Thursday night and charged with the Wednesday robbery of a 91-year-old Ellicott City woman in the 9800 block of Town & Country Blvd., Howard County police said.

Shawn Dameyon Chambers of the 7900 block of Jody Knolls nTC Road in Baltimore was arrested in Baltimore County after an investigation, said Sgt. Steve Keller, a Howard County police spokesman.

Chambers is accused of taking the woman's purse as she entered her apartment Wednesday morning. He was being held at the Howard County Detention Center Friday on $150,000 bond.

Keller also said that police are investigating Chambers in connection with similar robberies in the Ellicott City area since June. Police said the victims in the six other robberies also were elderly.
