Library celebrating 25 years

THE BROOKLYN Park branch of the Anne Arundel County public library, 1 E. 11th Ave., will celebrate its 25th anniversary from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday.

There will be outdoor games, face painting, grab-bag giveaways and a firetruck display from 1 p.m. to 2: 30 p.m. Michael the Magician will perform at 2: 30 p.m.

From 3: 30 p.m. to 5 p.m., state Sen. Philip C. Jimeno, Dels. Joan Cadden and John R, Leopold, County Executive John G. Gary and County Councilman George F. Bachman will greet the public.

4 Chester the Library Dog will make an appearance.

Bible school

Vacation Bible School begins at 7 p.m. today at St. John Lutheran Church, 226 Washburn Ave., and continues through Friday.

Classes are available for children age 3 through junior high as well as adults.

Registration will be accepted on opening night.

St. John's Christian Day School is enrolling children for its 1996-1997 school year.

Programs are available for children ages 3 to 5 and elementary students from grades one to five.

A day care center operates from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Bingo parties

The Roland Terrace Democratic Club, 619 Matthews Ave., sponsors Thursday night bingo at the club house.

Block party

The Arundel Village Security Patrol and Anne Arundel County Police Department will sponsor the first Arundel Village Block Party. The party will be from noon to 9 p.m. at the Arundel Village Park on Cross Street.

There will be game wheels, Police and Fire Department demonstrations, music and refreshments.

Opening ceremony

You are invited to the opening ceremonies of new county offices from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday.

The old Brooklyn Park/ Lindale Middle School, 200 Hammonds Lane, will house county services.

Services include the senior nutrition site, in-home services, transportation, health insurance counseling, recreation and parks and drug awareness programs.

Harbor Hospital Center will provide free blood-pressure and cholesterol screenings.
