Man charged with having drug, knife

July 26, 1996

Police arrested an Edgewater man on drug and weapons charges Wednesday after an officer stopped him for speeding, county police said.

Kraig Adam Stotsky, 30, of the 1600 block of Oriole Road was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a concealed weapon.

Officer Richard J. Hicks said he saw a 1980 Ford speed from the parking lot of a Royal Farm store at Londontown and Elkridge roads shortly after midnight.

Police followed the car north on Londontown Road, and Hicks stopped it near Forestville Road, police said.

The officer noticed a partially concealed knife behind the driver's sun visor as he spoke to the man, who apologized for speeding.

Hicks gave the driver a warning and asked whether he could search the car, police said. The man consented, and Hicks retrieved the knife and arrested the man. In a further search, the officer found a bag of what later tested positive for marijuana.
