An armed man robbed a Glen Burnie High's convenience store Wednesday of an undisclosed amount of money, county police said.

Witnesses told police the man walked into the store in the 6700 block of Ritchie Highway shortly before 8 p.m., showed an employee a black handgun and demanded cash.

The clerk complied, putting money from the register into the gunman's blue gym bag. The bandit left the store and walked toward a nearby Hechinger store, police said. They did not have a detailed description of the thief.

Girl, 12, assaulted Tuesday near Seventh Avenue

A 12-year-old girl was assaulted Tuesday as she walked near Seventh Avenue in Glen Burnie when a man pulled out 6- to-10-inchlengths of her hair, county police said.

The victim of the 400 block of Seventh Ave. told police she and an 11-year-old friend were walking through the woods in a drainage gully about 7 p.m. when a stranger approached them and started talking about his little yellow dog.

When the girls walked away, the man yelled to the victim that there was something in her hair. She stopped, and the man grabbed her hair, pulling it out in the back, police said.

The man then ran down the gully toward New Jersey Avenue, police said.

Police did not have a detailed description of the man and were unable to find him. The girl did not require medical treatment, police said.
