Youth Services buys Utah care company
Youth Services International Inc. snapped up a Utah firm that provides residential group care, therapeutic foster care and counseling services to about 100 troubled youths, the Owings Mills-based company said yesterday.
Youth Services, which works to rehabilitate troubled juveniles, bought the business and assets of Youth Quest Inc. for about $800,000. The transaction is expected to add $1.5 million in annual revenues to Youth Services, the company said.
Youth Quest, based in Orem, Utah, provides services to the 100 juveniles under contracts with the Utah Department of Human Services.
The company's operations will be combined with Youth Services International of Utah, which has been providing similar services throughout the state.
David Talley, president of Youth Quest who founded the company in 1990, will join Youth Services' Utah operation as its director of marketing and business development.
Earlier this month, Youth Services named Timothy P. Cole, former chairman of Wackenhut Corrections Corp., as chief executive officer.
