A 16-year-old Northeast Baltimore youth, Jeffery Harper, was fatally shot yesterday in the kitchen of his home in the 2900 block of Hillen Road, Baltimore police said.

Friends found his body about 1 a.m. yesterday, according to police, who said he was shot once in the head. There was no sign of forced entry, police said, and they are investigating the death as a homicide.

Police yesterday also identified two other people slain last week, including one of two men found shot to death in Leakin Park on Thursday morning.

That man was identified as Deron Coleman, 24, of the 7000 block of Lachlan Circle in Towson. He was found lying in the park near Franklintown Road; the other victim has not been identified.

Also, a West Baltimore youth fatally shot Friday morning was identified as Omar Faroug, 19, of the 8000 block of Deerfield Circle. Police said Faroug probably was killed because his assailants wrongly thought he was responsible for a double slaying that day in the 700 block of Poplar Grove St.

As they tried to find suspects in the three deaths, homicide detectives realized the wrong man may have been targeted. Police would not identify the men who died in the double slaying.
