A scholarship has been created at Essex Community College in recognition of Donald J. Slowinski, who recently retired as the school's president.

The $600 scholarship, established by the college's alumni association, will be awarded each semester beginning this fall.

Slowinski served at the college for 28 years, the last five as president.

Three other scholarships recognize former presidents of the school: Moses S. Koch, Vernon Wanty and John E. Ravekes.

Another scholarship recognizes Giles B. Cooke, a former chemistry professor.
