A Severna Park woman was arrested Friday on charges she stole nearly $150 in groceries from a Glen Burnie store, county police said.

Melissa Andrea Day, 24, of the 400 block of McBride Lane was charged with theft.

A security guard for the Box & Save in the 7900 block of Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd., told police the woman pushed a cart of groceries past the cashiers and toward the door about 2: 30 p.m., then went to one of the cashiers and asked for bags, police said.

The guard approached the woman and asked to see a receipt. The woman abandoned the groceries and tried to leave the store, but two employees caught her and held her for police.
