Two people were seriously injured in a head-on collision on Route 32 in east Columbia Sunday when a driver drove against the flow of traffic, Howard County police said.

Herbert Francis Larrimore, 55, of the 11200 block of Scaggsville Road in North Laurel and Michele Ann Daskivick, 38, of the 1000 block of Main St. in Galesville, were listed in critical condition at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center yesterday, Howard County police said.

According to police, Larrimore was driving his 1987 Honda Accord east in the westbound lanes of Route 32 near Columbia's King's Contrivance village about 9: 45 a.m. At Route 32 near U.S. 29, the Honda struck Daskivick's 1995 Toyota Corolla station wagon, which was westbound, police said.

Both drivers were flown by state police helicopter to the hospital in Baltimore, Howard County fire officials said.

An investigation of the crash is continuing, police said.
