A request to add store to gas station is approved

The Howard County Board of Appeals has granted a request to allow the owners of a Lisbon gas station to add a convenience store to their business.

The board voted 4-0 Thursday to allow Olen and Judy Ketterman, owners of Lisbon Service Center at 15882 Frederick Road, to add a convenience store in what used to be a repair garage at their gas station.

The Kettermans asked for a special exception from the commercial sales and service business zoning. All requests concerning gas stations must go through the appeals process. They said the store, which will sell such items as soda, cigarettes and motor oil, will be open by mid-September.
